The Midcoast Children's Advocacy Center (MCAC) serves children and caregivers when there are concerns of child sexual abuse. We strive to provide a buffer between children and the process of investigating child sexual assault.

We coordinate a team of specialized professionals throughout Midcoast Maine and provide a safe, neutral, child-centered environment to facilitate next steps forward.

MCAC Forensic Interviewers and Family Advocates are trauma-informed and non-judgmental. We connect families to the resources in our community that facilitate healing.

We work with a multidisciplinary team made up of law enforcement officers, child protective workers, prosecutors, medical health providers, mental health professionals, victim witness advocates and more.

We aim to increase collaboration and the coordination of care for families before, during, and after any criminal case and/or civil legal action.

The success of the CAC model lies in the strength of these creative, effective partnerships.

If your agency or community group is active in the Midcoast and is interested in joining our multidisciplinary team meetings, we encourage you to reach out. We are currently in search of partners who represent community-based groups actively working on non-carceral responses to harm.

We are committed to setting families on the path to healing. We strive for a world that is free from sexual violence in all forms.

We currently have two locations in the Midcoast through the generosity of Lincoln Health in Wiscasset and Maine Behavioral Healthcare in Rockland.

To make our services accessible to all families in the counties we serve, MCAC staff are looking for appropriate space in the Belfast area to open a third site.

Please email Amie Dick, MCAC Program Coordinator, to find out if your location meets the requirements to host this new center!
