The Midcoast Children's Advocacy Center (MCAC) coordinates a team of specialized professionals throughout Midcoast Maine following concerns of child sexual abuse in a safe, neutral and child-centered environment. To learn more about this program, visit the MCAC website by clicking here.
We currently have two locations in the Midcoast thanks to our generous partnerships with Lincoln Health in Wiscasset and Maine Behavioral Healthcare in Rockland. To make our services accessible to all families in the counties we serve, the MCAC staff is searching for appropriate space in the Belfast area to open a third site this coming year. Please email Alison Howe, MCAC Program Coordinator, if you have space that might work!
Since opening our doors in November of 2017, the MCAC has seen over 80 children and their families. Our team—made up of dozens of Law Enforcement Officers, Child Protective workers, prosecutors, medical and mental health professionals, and victim advocates— aims to increase collaboration and the coordination of care for families before, during, and after any criminal case and/or civil legal action. The strength of the CAC model lies in the strength of these creative, effective partnerships. We can’t do this work without our team!
