Our high school lessons are designed for all high school ages and can be facilitated in multi-grade classrooms. We recommend that students who have not yet received a SASSMM lesson in high school receive Lesson 1 before any other module. We suggest students receive at least 2 SASSMM lessons per school year.

Each lesson can be adapted for in-person and virtual learning and runs approximately 50-60 minutes long.

Lesson 1: Consent & Sexual Violence

This lesson provides an overview of consent and sexual violence. Through activities and discussion, students will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and dive deeper into what consent really means and looks like. Students will learn the basics of trauma responses and explore how victim blaming impacts all of us.

Major concepts: Consent, sexual violence, power dynamics, victim blaming, trauma.
Grade(s): 9-12

Lesson 2: Sexting & Digital Safety

This lesson highlights the importance of consent in all digital interactions. Students will explore options for safer online experiences as well as learn about relevant laws and resources.

Major concepts: digital safety, sexting, virtual boundaries and consent.
Grade(s): 9-12

Lesson 3: Prevention

In this lesson, students will examine what prevention looks like on an interpersonal, community, and societal level through an interactive learning exercise. Students will use these concepts to reflect on sexual violence as a cultural issue and how they can play a role in preventing sexual violence in their communities.

Major concepts: Primary prevention, awareness, risk reduction, sexual violence
Grade(s): 9-12
