About Us
The Midcoast Children’s Advocacy Center is a safe, neutral, child-centered program that coordinates a team of specialized professionals after concerns of child sexual abuse.

We bring together law enforcement, DHHS, District Attorney’s offices, and mental health/medical professionals on a “multi-disciplinary team” to promote healing and justice for every family we serve. We provide forensic interviews so children only need to be interviewed about their abuse one time by one person in a neutral location.

We are grounded in trauma-informed practice and other emerging best practices to ensure we are always providing the most compassionate care possible. This collaborative, evidence-based approach helps our children and families heal more seamlessly.

You and your family are the heart of the Midcoast CAC. Our Forensic Interviewers and Family Advocates are here to help you navigate the investigation process and what comes after. We are here to help you find what healing and justice looks like for your family. This process can be complex, frightening, and overwhelming. But you’re not alone.

What is a MDT?
A "MDT" is a "multi-disciplinary team." MDTs are formed when a concern of child sexual abuse is reported. These teams are made up of professionals working together to promote healing and justice for your family. Common MDT members include your Family Advocate, the Forensic Interviewer, local law enforcement, DHHS, and the District Attorney's Office. Here is more information on MDT members and their roles.

Contacting the Midcoast Children's Advocacy Center
Call the HelpLine at 1-800-871-7741 or your Family Advocate for help or more information. The Midcoast CAC is only able to work with families who have been referred by law enforcement, DHHS, or the DA's offices.
