Sexual violence can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, race, class, immigration status, sexual orientation, religion, culture, and physical or mental ability. Sexual violence is not usually a crime between strangers. Survivors of sexual violence are most often harmed by people they know, like a classmate, spouse, loved one, co-worker, friend, neighbor, family member, caretaker, or employer. |
