In-Person Peer Support Groups

Exit Site Quickly

We offer peer support groups for survivors and people impacted by sexual violence. Support groups provide a safe place for people to learn and heal together. Through the discussion of sexual trauma, shared or individual experiences, and local resources, these groups aim to increase connection and support for survivors, caregivers, partners, and concerned others. Our free groups are held periodically throughout the year for 8-12 weeks. Some examples of gender inclusive support groups that we have historically offered include:

  • Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
  • Adolescent Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
  • Adult Survivor of Sexual Assault
  • Non-Offending Parents and Caregivers (18+)
For non-offending parents and caregivers of children who were sexually abused.
This group is not designed for parents and caregivers with an offending child.
  • Concerned Others Support Group (18+)
For friends and partners of a survivor.
  • Experiential Support Group
    (example: Yoga for Survivors)

Online Peer Support Groups

In partnership with Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), we facilitate online group chats for survivors and their loved ones.

The HelpRoom is a private online group chat option that allows members of the community who have been impacted by sexual violence to connect with one another in a secure space. Trained advocates will facilitate group discussions to ensure a safe environment for all visitors. These online groups are free and anonymous.

We do not have a HelpRoom group scheduled at this time. These groups are based on needs from our clients. Is there a specific group you'd like to see us offer next? (Examples: College Survivors, Male Survivors, Teen Survivors, etc.) Let us know inthe  Online Group Recommendations form!

No sign up necessary! You do not have to live in Midcoast Maine to participate in this opportunity. For more information or to log on, visit our HelpRoom site here.
